How to Choose the Perfect Photo

How to Choose the Perfect Photo

The secret to a stunning Festi kit isn't the paper or the ink (though we use the best of both!). The secret is your photo.

Since your child’s face is the star of the show—appearing on banners, hats, and confetti—the photo you upload makes all the difference. We want your party to look professional, not pixelated.

Here are the 3 Golden Rules for choosing a photo that prints perfectly.

1. Lighting is Everything

Avoid dark rooms or photos taken at night with a flash. The best photos are taken in natural daylight.

Pro Tip: Stand your child facing a window. The light should hit their face directly. This eliminates shadows and makes their eyes sparkle.

2. Get Close (But Not Too Close)

We need a clear view of the head and shoulders.

Avoid: Full-body shots taken from far away. When we zoom in on the face, it might get grainy.

Avoid: Extreme close-ups where the top of the head is cut off.

The Sweet Spot: A nice portrait from the chest up.

3. Watch the Background

While our designers and tech work magic to focus on the face, a cluttered background can sometimes make things tricky. A simple wall or open space behind your child helps us get the cleanest "cutout" look for things like cupcake toppers.

The "Squint Test"

Look at the photo on your phone and squint your eyes. Is the face still bright and clear? If yes, it’s a winner!

Don't stress if you don't have a professional headshot. A great iPhone photo taken near a window works perfectly 99% of the time.
